Drunk Driver Strikes Monterey PD Vehicle

A drunk driver faces charges after striking a Monterey Police Department vehicle last night.

Victor Israel Torrez Francisco, 30, faces a DUI, Exercise Due Care, Open Container, Drivers License 30 Day Residency, and Financial Responsibility.

Police Chief Bill Randolph said Francisco collided with a PD vehicle on East Stratton Ave. and South Holly St.

Francisco failed to obey the traffic signal and ran the red light.

The police vehicle was in transit to bring an individual to Cookeville at the time of the collision.

Randolph said EMS treated the individual in transit for minor injuries. Randolph did not report any other injuries.
