Downed Trees, Isolated Flooding Seen Across The Upper Cumberland

Flash flooding and strong winds across the Upper Cumberland has caused minor damage as emergency personnel evaluate Friday morning.

Clay County EMA Director Kyle Haney said the main issue he saw was downed trees and a small field fire caused by damaged power lines.

“Last night around 7:00 p.m., there was a tree that fell on the power line in the Dry Creek community,” Haney said. “We had a power outage for a couple hours last night. Tri-County was able to get the tree off the power line, and the Moss Fire Department was able to get everything under control.”

Haney said he saw widespread, minor flooding at low lying areas. Haney said no water damage has been reported.

Putnam County EMA Director Tyler Smith said there were reports of downed trees, with one residence asking for removal of a tree that fell on their house. He said flooding occurred in areas that typically see it with weather events, including Poplar Grove and Spring Creek. He said the water has likely already receded.

Smith said the event fell in line with expectations.

Warren County EMA Director Jim Cunningham reported road flooding on Petigap Road and Bates Hill Road was expected. He said there were no other major reports.
