Crossville City Council has approved a $32,00 budget amendment for the Inn of the Cumberlands demolition project.
City Manager Greg Wood said the property will be put up for auction later this year.
“If you haven’t been by the former Cumberland Inn, there’s maybe a dump truck or two loads left of it now,” Wood said. “The signs down and the building’s down.”
The project to demolish the building took longer than expected. The building had to undergo several studies because of a meth lab that was once on the premises.
Crossville condemned the inn two years ago after the owners failed to address several code violations. The city hopes to recoup the $88,000 it will ultimately spend to destroy the property.
