The demolition of Tennessee Tech’s Crawford Hall has been added to the university’s master plan.
The only residential hall on the main quad was to be renovated for classroom space. Planning and Finance Vice-President Claire Stinson said after discussion, it was found that the land would be better used for a new development.
“The cost to renovate Crawford and the fact it was not going to give us exactly what we wanted it made more sense to propose a demolition of Crawford Hall,” Stinson said.
Crawford Hall will be replaced with a classroom building. Matthews-Daniel Hall will also be demolished as a part of the project. The university has requested some $61 million dollar of state funding for demolition and construction.
