DeKalb Seeks Consistency Despite Weather Delays

The past week’s weather has wreaked havoc with school schedules and basketball preparation.

DeKalb County Head Coach Joey Agee saw his team fall to White County to begin district play.

“I told them that I’d be uploading a game films for them to watch, and since we didn’t know if we were gonna be able to get in the gym anytime soon, I told them they needed to prepare just by watching game film,” Agee said. “And they needed to prepare like they were gonna have to coach the team once they got back.”

Agee said he and his staff have been forced to use Hudl, a multimedia streaming platform designed for coaches and players, in order for his Tigers squad to prepare for upcoming games.

“When we watch them, we don’t have to watch the whole game together,” Agee said. “We can highlight some areas we really want to focus on so we’re not spending a ton of time just sitting in front of a screen in practice.”

The loss marked the Tigers’ second loss in their last three games. Agee said he tries to spend about 15 to 20 minutes every day spending time watching film with his players during a normal practice.

“Back when I played, there were, you know, a coaches meeting on Saturday morning swapping VHS tapes and then we’re watching game film in the locker room and you’re having to get up and rewind the VHS tape,” Coach Agee said. “So it’s just so much better for the kids to watch and even us as coaches because we can go in there and call out things and make notes and the kids can see those notes once they’re watching that film so it makes it a whole lot easier.”

DeKalb visits Cumberland County Tuesday night.
