Dale Hollow Lake Road will remain closed until the end of August.
Giant cranes are setup on the roadway to assist replacing the dam’s water flow gates. Dale Hollow Power Plant Superintendent Stanley Carter said shipping delays from COVID has caused the project to take longer then expected.
“There has been some delays in this contract associated with the Covid-19 pandemic,” Carter said. “Just a few things, such as that, are the main things that has kept this going longer than it has.”
Carter said the closure causes increased commute times and has become an inconvenience to the power plant’s employees. Dale Hollow Lake Road first closed in June.
“I will be glad when it is open,” Carter said. “Just so everyone knows, it is an inconvenience for several of us that work here. I personally drive that road everyday, and it cuts down from my commute times as well. I know it is an inconvenience to some of the locals, but it is to some of the folks that work here as well.”
Carter said the road is too narrow to allow traffic. Carter said the gate replacements are just to keep the dam up-to-date.
