Cummins Falls Hosting Christmas At The Falls

Cummins Falls State Park will be sharing the Christmas spirit this Saturday with Christmas at the Falls.

Cummins Falls Park Ranger Jordan Fraley said the festive celebration will include crafts, hot chocolate, and candlemaking. Fraley said the event is also designed to encourage the community to experience the park while embracing the season.

“It’s about getting people to come out to the park and take advantage of it,” Fraley said. “You have the crafts and hot chocolate stations where we tell stories about the culture of the area and different things like that. So any chance to engage with our community and turn it into a learning opportunity for them.”

Fraley said the celebration will consist of several new activities. Fraley said among the new activities is a new twist to a popular Christmas Tradition that features a chance to take a professional-grade photo with Santa.

“Our ranger is taking the pictures again,” Fraley said. “Last year, it was $5 per group, and you came in, sat on Santa’s lap, and took a picture with your phone or whatever you happened to bring. That is when we had our least amount of engagement.”

Fraley said he is hopeful this year will be a better turnout.

“We just want people to come and enjoy this public land forever. The ability to bring people who normally wouldn’t come, “Fraley said. “Having these events is a great opportunity to get as many people to engage and come out.”

Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the cozy atmosphere, relax by the campfire, and soak in the holiday spirit. Whether you’re crafting, sipping hot cocoa, or just spending time with loved ones, Cummins Falls State Park offers a perfect setting to make lasting memories this holiday season.

The celebration will begin Saturday, December 14th at 1 p.m.
