Cumberland Schools No Longer Using Text Alerts

The Cumberland County School System will stop using text alerts for school delays and closings.

School officials cited increased costs as a reason for its decision. Director of School Janet Graham said the district used the Remind service for free, but the company decided to charge a $22,000 fee.

Graham said local and regional media will continue announcing closings and school delays. The district’s website and social media page will also display the information.

The cost increase also led Tennessee College of Applied Technology to discontinue its use of the Remind Service.
