Cumberland County Semi Wreck Injures One

A Cumberland County single-vehicle wreck injured a Covington, Georgia semi-driver Tuesday night.

An incident report states that 31-year-old Meshawn Brand was traveling south on US Highway 127 when the accident occurred.

Authorities say the bob-tailed semi was traveling too fast down the mountain causing Brand to lose control of the vehicle.

The semi ran off the right shoulder of the roadway into the ditch. According to the report, Brand was ejected from the truck as it rolled over once and came to a rest in the northbound lanes.

State troopers performed life-saving measures until paramedics arrived on the scene and transported Brand to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

The incident report indicates that Brand did not wear a seat belt.
