Cumberland County EMA Developing Emergency Communications App

Cumberland County EMA developing a new emergency services app.

Director Travis Cole said the app will streamline all emergency communications, including weather bulletins, school closures, and road conditions.

“I think it’s going to be beneficial and time will tell,” Cole said. “With it being a free download for iPhone and Android, I see it taking off and being pretty popular. I think it will benefit everyone greatly.”

Cole said the app will also have a feature to use during emergencies such as severe weather. He said users will be able to self-report damages, which is another way citizens can report their needs that first responders might not get to otherwise.

Cole said Cumberland County EMA has spent time developing the app using influences from surrounding counties, such as Putnam County EMA’s app. He said they hope to officially roll it out in the next few weeks.
