Cumberland Co BOE Puts CCHS Auditorium Project Out For Bid

The Cumberland County Board of Education took the next step in building a new auditorium at Cumberland County High School.

The board approved putting the project out for bid after a report from Board Member Nicholas Davis Thursday.

“There’s been a public meeting held to raise the opportunity to talk through any concerns or questions and how that would be handled,” Davis said. “It appears that we are in a position to present that to the board today.”

The school system held a public meeting where the designs were first shared earlier this month. Director of Schools Billy Stepp has said that the auditorium would be very similar to the one at Stone Memorial High School.

Some $8 million has been allocated for the project through federal COVID relief money. The school board also approved bidding out classroom additions at the South Cumberland Elementary School.
