Crossville Will Apply For $285K From Lee Administration

Crossville will apply for nearly $285,000 from Governor Bill Lee’s Local Government Support Grant.

City Council approved the grant application at its Tuesday night meeting. The governor outlined the program to help local governments continue infrastructure work during the COVID-19 shutdown.

“(It) will come in handy but in a couple of months I’m afraid our sales tax revenues are going to be hurt quite a bit,” Crossville Mayor James Mayberry said.

The one-time grant program can fund items such as road projects, public safety, IT hardware upgrades, capital maintenance, or COVID-19 response. Council member J.H. Graham suggested considering water and sewer expenses when the council decides how to spend the money.

Council also approved the purchase of new concession stand coolers for Centennial Park and a self-serve fueling tank for the airport. The city also approved a bid for banking services from Bank of Putnam County.
