Cumberland County deputies discovered an explosive device while conducting a traffic stop Wednesday evening at the Interstate Drive Dollar Tree.
Deputies notified the Knoxville Police Department Bomb Squad, which dismantled the device, which was found in the rear of the subject vehicle. It reportedly contained two ignitable fuses and approximately 44 grams of explosive powder.
Bomb Squad members tested some of the powder and one of the fuses, both of which ignited.
The owner of the vehicle, 38-year-old Brian Austin Brockway of Crossville, was arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon. His bond was set at $5,000. Brockway is due to appear in court November 19.
