Crossville to Consider Fixed-Base Operator Proposals

Crossville City Council will consider recommended Fixed Based Operator proposals for the Crossville Memorial Airport on Tuesday.

City Manager Greg Wood said the city must complete a request for quotation within 90 days after appointing the interim airport manager.

“Some of them are pretty strong and we are going to have to decide how aggressive you want to get as far as an economic development element with the airport. You might see some of the ones I am expecting because they might be expanding,” Wood said. “And some of them are proposing to expand beyond the already existing mechanical operations, also charter operation and flight school operation.”

Wood said he expects to receive five additional proposal submissions before the City Council meeting.

A subcommittee made up of airport committee and city council members will assess the proposals before recommending action to the council.

“I would just have the airport committee do it but there is actually one of the airport committee members I know that is going to be bidding on it,” Wood said. “And another one recommended one of the other FBOs applied. So I am trying to make sure there is no conflict of interest, so we will have a recommendation for you on Tuesday.”

The City of Crossville approved a 6-month agreement in March for Eric Ramsey to serve as interim operator.
