Crossville To Conduct Additional Sewer Work

Crossville officials have voted to conduct additional sewer line repairs after saving money on a $1.1 million dollar project.

Crossville Mayor James Mayberry the city has about $265,000 left over in the contract for the project.

“We had a meeting and a lot of the things they found that we though we had to replace and repair were OK,” Mayberry said. “It saved us a bunch of money.”

The city approved a $205,00 change order Tuesday night to conduct additional pipe bursting on Town Loop and Braun Street. Crews will also inspect lines with cameras around Holiday Lake, 4th Street, and Lantana Road.

“We’ve got a good contractor and good prices,” City Engineer Tim Begley said. “There’s other reaches just outside of this project that we would like to go into because we know we’ve got additional problems.”

The additional work will keep the city about $60,000 under budget.

“I’m really impressed,” Vice Mayor J.H. Graham said. “We usually don’t see many $265,000 negative change orders,”

No timeline was given on when the additional work would begin.
