Crossville Council To Decide On Funding And Ammenities For Indoor Recreation Facility

Funding mechanisms and which option to pursue. Two decisions that the Crossville City Council will have to make before moving forward on its indoor recreation facility.

Council members have three options that are $55, $60 or $65 million. Mayor RJ Crawford said he plans to have all the financial information prepared by March for the council to select a project.

“At that point we should have all of our potential finance options out on the table, a pretty good idea on what needs to be done to make that feasible, and hopefully from that, we can make a decision on if we want to vote on a certain option or how we want to vote whether it is a referendum or having a majority vote from the council.”

Crawford said the yearly operating costs will also need to be factored into the decision. All options include a multi-use gymnasium. The main price differences are an indoor pool, an outdoor pool or including both.

Crawford said bonds or tax revenue are the two main options to fund the project. Crawford said he has also reached out to Cumberland County to see if it would be interested in partnering in the project.
