Crossville Breaks Ground For Fire Station

Crossville broke ground Tuesday for a new fire station located on the corner of Interstate Drive and Cotton Patch Drive.

Fire Chief Chris South said the new station will replace the current Fire Station two with all personnel and equipment moving over once it is completed. South said the new building is located closer to the middle of Crossville to better serve the northern end of the city.

“The north end of our community has grown exceptionally over the last several years and is projected to continue that growth,” South said. “And a fire station in the center of that north district will be key to providing the best fire protection for our neighbors.”

South said the new facility will feature new technologies and house the department’s training operations with a modern-day classroom. South said they will also add an onsite training ground that can be used for training with other fire departments throughout the region.

South said they could be in the station as early as late 2025 depending on how the construction process goes.

“Because we already have the equipment and the fire crews to staff the station it will just simply be, the moment it’s open we’ll be able to start staffing and to move current operations to that location,” South said.

South said they have been working on the new station for about two years at this point.

“The city council and city management have bought into our vision in order to try to provide the best fire protection for the city as possible,” South said. “And this is just another good step in that direction. We’ve been working toward a master plan to try to, over the next ten years, really bring the fire protection levels into the twenty-first century here in Crossville.”
