Crossville Appraising Land For Future Indoor Rec Center

The Crossville City Council has approved a land appraisal for a Webb Avenue property for the city’s new indoor rec center.

City Manager Greg Wood said the property is 24 acres with about 18 that are usable.

“And, its’s going to be a mandatory auction coming up next month,” Wood said. “So, we would probably like to make an offer on it, but I think it would be good to have an appraisal so we don’t overpay for it.”

The land being evaluated is currently owned by Ice Centers of Tennessee. During the special called meeting Thursday, Council Member Scot Shanks said if this property does not work out, he is in discussions for a second possible property. Shanks said he should be able to share more information on that land in a future meeting.

“I spoke with somebody today, but I am not ready to bring anything up about that,” Shanks said. “(…) It would be a month before I know anything on that.”

Based on the feasibility study performed by Wold HFR Design, the construction costs of the conceptual plan would be about $31 to $32 million dollars and 90,000 square feet. The estimated land needed for the project is about 10 acres.
