CRMC Trustee Owens Honored As He Steps Down

The Cookeville Regional Board of Trustees honored Dr. Carl Owens for his work on the board during their Thursday meeting.

Owens will be stepping down after six years of service. He said it has been his pleasure to serve on the board.

“I will continue to be an advocate for CRMC having been in this room and seeing some of the challenges, and especially the ones in the last few years,” Owens said. “So I wish everyone well, and the new board member, I wish you well, and I look forward to visiting from time to time. So thank you all for giving me this opportunity.”

Owens will continue to serve on the board until the end of the month, at which point Justin Cumby will take his place and serve the two years remaining for the seat. CEO Buffy Key said Owens has been enthusiastic about providing quality healthcare and enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of the Upper Cumberland during his time with the board.

“Dr. Carl Owens has rendered distinguished service to the medical center, graciously giving of his time and sharing his wealth of knowledge as a community business leader, demonstrating commitment and dedication to the healthcare needs of the community and region,” Key said.

Key said Owens served on various committees with the hospital during his time on the board.

“It was a little overwhelming in the beginning,” Owens said. “And all of the acronyms and all of the learning, but this has been one of the highlights of my career; to be able to serve the community, and especially this hospital.”
