CRMC Introduces New Shuttle Service

Cookeville Regional Medical Center has introduced its new shuttle service to provide transportation throughout the property for visitors.

Director of Patient Experience Craig Norris said the shuttle service is called the “Car to Curb Program”. Norris said the service created as parking continued to be an issue for visitors.

“Essentially we have two stretched six-seater golf carts that are readily available for visitors and guests, which will circle around the parking lot,” Norris said. “We have designated pickup locations, but that’s okay you don’t have to be at the pickup location. We also will be circling around all of the adjacent parking lots picking up visitors and guests as they approach the building.”

Norris said the shuttle service is free of charge to guests. Norris said the service will shuttle to any of the adjacent buildings on the hospital’s property.

“It will actually run to all of the adjacent buildings,” Norris said. “Anything on the CRMC campus we will be able to pick up and drop off.”

Norris said the golf carts are not wheelchair accessible and the hospital will still encourage those who are disabled to continue parking in handicapped spots.

An average person may think the golf carts would not work in the winter.

“The golf carts come with an enclosure,” Norris said.  “So once we get on to cooler weather we will add the enclosures to it so the visitors and guests have a warmer experience.”
