The Sunset Marina storefront appears to be a total loss after an hours-long blaze Thursday.
Pickett/Overton County EMA Director Chris Massiongale said preliminary information indicates a houseboat striking the dock could be the initial cause of the fire.
“Which dislodged the gas pumps and apparently gas was going everywhere and an explosion happened or the gas caught fire shortly thereafter,” Massiongale said.
Massiongale said the restaurant and the remainder of the docks are intact as of Thursday night.
Massiongale said at least two were injured as a result of the fire. He said a dockworker was airlifted to Skyline in Nashville for burns. Massiongale said the owner of the dock was treated for smoke inhalation at Livingston Regional Hospital.
Crews from all across the Upper Cumberland came to aid the scene, including from Pickett County, Overton County, Fentress County and Clay County, as well as TEMA and TWRA. Massiongale said crews will remain through the night to monitor the scene.
“Everybody worked extremely well together,” Massiongale said. “There were a lot of people from the dock and the area helping.”
Pictures from the scene showed flames surging from the top of the building which is located off Highway 111 in Overton County.
