CPD Arrest Man for Burglary After Finding His Phone

The Cookeville Police Department arrested a Cookeville man in connection with three attempted burglaries after finding his cell phone in a vehicle.

Curt Moore, 54, booked into the Putnam County Jail Thursday on two charges of attempted burglary and one offense of burglary. He is being held on $15,000 bond.

According to arrest warrants, all three incidents occurred on Sept. 21. The attempted burglary charges stem from Moore trying to open two locked car doors, including one with someone in the driver’s seat. The driver locked the car doors as Moore yelled at her to give him the purse inside.

The arrest warrants indicate Moore did enter a Jeep Cherokee later that was parked in the Logan’s Roadhouse parking lot. Although Moore did not take anything, he did leave his cell phone in the vehicle, leading authorities to his arrest.

Moore is due to appear in court Oct. 15.
