Crossville will spend $26,000 with a Murfreesboro-based firm to collect input from residents and share the vision for a new recreation center.
Crossville City Council engaged with E Allan Brandon, a public affairs and strategic communications service in Murfreesboro. The firm in its proposal said it “will coordinate a community discussion for the city of Crossville.”
The six-point project includes creating printed materials and well as audio and video recordings to explain the amenities and costs. The firm will also produce information for both traditional and social media outlets. A forum will be created for public input, using QR codes. The firm will create an online presence for the proposed project. Finally, the firm will engage with civic and religious organizations.
The rec facility has seen aggressive push back from residents, seemingly most concerned about its cost. Some residents have asked that a referendum on the project be scheduled.
Council recently began exploring a partnership with the Putnam County YMCA on the project.
Brandon’s proposal outlined payments that would end in April, though a timeline for communication and data collection was not included.
