Cookeville residents can go back to their normal water usage as the city’s water tanks have returned to normal operating levels.
The Cookeville Department of Water Quality Control had been requesting voluntary water reduction since early last week following leaks caused by the winter storm. Last Wednesday, the department recorded its highest-ever level of demand.
While the demand is still slightly higher than average, the department believes they will be able to keep up. If residents have leaks or spot new leaks, the department is still urging people to get those fixed.
Customers in Cookeville, Baxter, Algood, Bangham Utility District, Double Springs Utility District, Boat Dock Road Utility District, and Gainesboro Grade Utility District are free to return to normal usage.
Customers with questions or concerns, or those who spot potential leaks in the system can reach out to the water department at (931) 520-5227.
