Cookeville To Authorize The Sale Of Three Highland Business Park Lots

Three lots in Highland Business Park will change hands following a vote at the Cookeville Planning Commission’s meeting on Monday.

Community Development Director Jon Ward said two Tract 4 lots located on Highland Park Boulevard were subdivided for a proposed economic development project. Ward said the lots will be used for the building of a pharmacy.

“It’s a job-creating project, you know,” Ward said. “It’s not a huge amount of jobs, but these are different types of jobs, and it’s, you know, diversifying our different job providers in the community.”

Ward said Mattson Holdings LLC will purchase the lots to build Newleaf Pharmacy which will help provide medicine to local healthcare centers. Ward said the city expects to see movement on the project sooner rather than later.

Ward also said the city will purchase a small outparcel to combine it with existing property in Highland Business Park. Ward said the 8,500-square-foot combination plat was the location of a billboard.

“Just to add to our property, it was more or less a housekeeping issue to simplify development on property within the Highlands Business Park so that we wouldn’t have that other parcel to deal with,” Ward said.

Ward said the city acquired the parcel through an estate sale.
