Cookeville will be applying for a grant to provide new safety equipment for city departments.
Human Resources Director Gail Fowler said the city could receive up to $3,000 for traffic cones and surveillance equipment.
“We’re also going to get a couple video cameras and a DVR for the general department,” Fowler said. “It would record and provide live feed for activity outside of the city hall front doors and also in the lobby. You’d be surprised at some of our customers that get pretty upset from time to time. That may be helpful in that endeavor.”
Fowler said eyewash stations would also be purchased for a number of departments, along with four mower chute blocks.
“It prevents projectiles from being thrown out from under the mowers,” Fowler said. “We’ve had employees with cracked windshields and things of that nature in the past, so that would be helpful for that.”
Cookeville City Council voted to apply for the Public Entity Partners grant during last week’s meeting. If awarded, Cookeville would be required to pay a $3,000 match.
