Cookeville Regional Hosting CPR And First Aid Courses

Cookeville Regional Medical Center is hosting a series of CPR classes, with the next class on Saturday, February 12th.

Coordinator Wanda Richardson said that there are two paths for courses: one for the non-medical personnel, and one for the medical pros.

“You never know where you’re going to be when somebody has a heart attack,” Richardson said. “I’ve been in nursing for 40 years and it’s also so sad to hear that someone died of a heart attack because nobody there had training or knew what to do. So we train as many people as we can.”

Richardson said that participants will receive a workbook for training and a two-year certification through the American Heart Association. She said that CPR classes will have a mannequin for each participant to practice breathing and compressions. For AED training, Richardson said that they will use a Zoll simulator.

Richardson said that the courses will run for four and a half hours from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. She said that the cost per participant is $60.
