Cookeville Planning Department Preparing Resident Survey For Future Land Use Plan

Updating the 2030 future land use plan will be the main objective for the Cookeville Planning Commission this year.

Planning Director Jon Ward said the work will begin next month when he will bring the commission an upcoming survey going out to city utility customers.

“That’s where the rubber meets the road for the next 10 years of development,” Ward said. “We’ve added to prepare and conduct a citizen survey for the Cookeville 2030 plan update. We have a survey that is almost ready to go. We want to bring it to the commission to see if you guys have comments.”

Ward said he also plans to submit any land use updates for review starting next month. The comprehensive plan was adopted in 2010 and is updated annually as a guide for the city’s development.

As for other activities coming this year, Ward said street planning will be a focus as South Jefferson, North Willow and East 10th Street widening projects move forward.
