Cookeville Man Charged With Vehicular Assault In Friday Crash

Police arrested a Cookeville man after a woman suffered serious injuries during a Friday morning traffic crash.

Officers with the Cookeville Police Department charged Jacob Raul Winton with DUI and vehicular assault.

A crash report said Winton’s vehicle crashed head-on into a tree after he disobeyed a stop sign at 7th Street and North Jefferson Avenue. A female occupant suffered serious injuries and received medical treatment at a Nashville hospital.

Winton allegedly admitted to drinking at the Revolver Club just prior to the crash. The arrest warrant said he failed to successfully complete field sobriety tasks.
