Cookeville Man Arrested After Pursuit Ends In Jackson County

A Cookeville man faces multiple charges for a Wednesday night vehicle pursuit.

Algood Police charged Christopher Kyle Speigel with aggravated assault, evading arrest, and reckless endangerment. He remains behind bars at the Putnam County Jail on $19,500 bond.

An arrest report accuses Speigel of fleeing a traffic stop for speeding on Quinland Lakes.

According to the report, Officer Brandon Bean’s body propelled into the side of the vehicle when Speigel accelerated and drove away as Bean attempted to open the car door. The officer chased Speigel into Jackson County and terminated the pursuit when he entered a school zone at speeds over 80 mph.

Speigel eventually bailed on foot when Jackson County deputies spotted the vehicle. Authorities took Speigel into custody after finding him hiding inside an abandoned building on New Hope Road.
