Cookeville Looking To Take Next Step On Gateway Monument Project

Cookeville City Council getting ready to undertake architectural designs for the Entranceway Project

Planning Director Jon Ward said that the city has engaged with Upland Design Group to provide architectural services for two gateway monument signs.

“This contract would include all of the design and necessary construction documents to move the project forward,” Ward said. “The total costs for the services are $22,500 and that is to be shared with Tennessee Tech University.”

Ward said that the one location for the sign is proposed at the westbound off-ramp of I-40 and South Willow Avenue at Exit 286. He said that the other sign is proposed at the westbound on-ramp of I-40 and South Jefferson Avenue near Cracker Barrel.

Ward said that they hope to get the project moving forward after getting the design and just moving on with construction. He said that T-DOT will have to approve all the design documents for the project.
