Cookeville Easement Almost Complete To Finalize Shoney’s Hill Sale

The final draft for a Cookeville easement to a city water tank on Shoney’s Hill should be completed this week.

Putnam County Mayor Randy Porter said the easement needs to be included in the deed before the property sale closes.

“We had to work through some of those issues,” Porter said. “There’s a big 30-inch water line that goes up to Shoney’s tank, and with the sale of the property, the city’s got to have an easement in case that line it needed any repairs. So, we’re working on those legal issues to try to get that property closed.

Porter said the county is working with the city to determine the exact width of the line and placement of the access road. Porter said the city and county attorneys are making the final reviews.

Porter said the legal description would limit any misunderstandings in the future with the land owner. The Putnam County Commission approved selling the some 30 acres atop of Shoney’s Hill to V3 reality for $2 million in January.
