Columbia Man Arrested for Third DUI Charge

Tennessee Highway Patrol officers arrested a Columbia man following a traffic crash on Monday.

Authorities charged 61-year-old David Wade Calvert with driving under the influence.

Law enforcement identified Calvert as the driver of a vehicle that dropped an appliance into the roadway causing a crash.

An arrest warrant indicates that Calvert had bloodshot, glassy eyes and mumbled speech. Calvert admitted to taking gabapentin earlier in the day.

Calvert failed to complete four field sobriety tasks.

Officials booked Calvert into the Putnam County Jail on a $1,750 bond. Calvert has since posted bail.

Warrants state that Calvert faced two DUI charges in Murray County in 2014.
