A Clinton man faces multiple charges after being arrested at the Cookeville Days Inn Tuesday morning.
Adam Washington, 39, was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and methamphetamine. He is currently being held at the Putnam County Jail on $25,000 bond.
According to arrest warrants, Cookeville Police responded to the hotel around 3 a.m. in reference to a male sleeping in a vehicle.
An officer found Washington sitting in the driver’s seat with a loaded 22-caliber semiautomatic handgun along with additional ammunition.
The arrest warrant indicates Washington admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. A search of the car led to the officer finding half a gram of crack cocaine, two grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, and a backpack with scales and baggies.
Past records show that Washington was previously convicted of a felony drug possession of a schedule II drug.
Washington is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 8.
