Byrdstown has completed its Eagle Cove water line project, but some residents have questions about clean up efforts.
A public hearing to close the Community Development Block Grant project was held Thursday. Mayor Sam Gibson said about a dozen residents have cited properties that still need work.
“In the past weeks, we’ve had maybe a couple dozen phone calls of when are they and are they going to?” Gibson said. “They’ve left our meters a little high than normal. They’ve left dirt piled up, and it is about mowing season, so we would like to get this done.”
Gibson said the comments have been documented, and the contractor should fix the problems before the project officially closes. Gibson said if a resident is not satisfied, city employees will follow up with any needs.
“We’ll try to go out and make everything right for them,” Gibson said. “Even if it is some work we have to do that was their responsibility. Our philosophy here is we want to keep our customers and people happy.”
The project addressed water pressure issues by replacing and up sizing water lines affecting about 800 homes in the Star Point, Eagle Cove area. About 150 service lines were also replaced with copper in the city limits.
