Clay Election Administrator Gains State Certification For Position

Clay County Election Administrator Monica Davis has earned her state certification for Administrators of Elections.

Davis said it was important for her to pass the exam to ensure honest elections for the community.

“It was all pretty new to me anyways,” Davis said. “I have worked as a poll worker, but there is so many things behind the scenes that I didn’t realize actually went on.”

Davis said she spent many hours studying cybersecurity, voter registration and election operations. By passing the exam, Davis demonstrated a level of knowledge required to be a successful county administrator.

“We need to make sure that we know the laws, the regulations and everything entailed to have an election that can be held with integrity,” Davis said.

Davis said she worked hand and hand with Assistant State Coordinator of Elections Elizabeth A. Henry-Robertson throughout the process.

“Many hours of studying,” Davis said. “We met weekly for the month of July. We meet with someone at the state office, and we would do zoom meetings with someone from the state office. We would discuss items that we were studying within each set.”

Davis said preparing voter registration lists was one of the highlights.
