Clay County placed crosses around the square Thursday to represent deceased Clay County veterans.
The square holds 540 white crosses. Each cross has a different name on the front and back.
Crosses also list the veteran’s branch, service, and conflict.
American Legion started the white cross-project in 2009.
The crosses will remain up until Tuesday.
The event highlights other events taking place over Memorial Day weekend.
The Celina Poppy Sale began today at the intersection near the courthouse square.
American Legion Post 18 and Auxiliary Unit 18 partnered in the Memorial Day events.
