The Clay County Sheriff’s Department reported a possible lead in the investigation of an escaped inmate.
Sheriff Brandon Boone said Roy Norris could be in New York.
“We can’t determine on exactly what happened, but someone in New York had run his name and it popped up,” Boone said. “But no one had him in custody, so we called four or five different jurisdictions.”
Boone said the New York dispatch said it could have been an officer running a name, but Norris was not taken into custody. He said the update came through the department’s database. The investigation will continue.
Norris escaped the sheriff’s custody in July. He was arrested for burglary and served one year out of his ten year sentence. He was about to be transported to a Kentucky penitentiary when he ran away.
