Cookeville Cityscape is searching for new members and donors to help tackle projects in downtown Cookeville through its annual membership drive.
Executive Director Ferran Kefauver said the funding from the drive will support the downtown revitalization group through the entire fiscal year. She said individuals and organizations who begin membership plans will receive varying perks based on the membership level they choose.
“I think it says that people love Cookeville,” Kefauver said. “People love what Cookeville is, what it’s becoming, and what it has been, and they believe in keeping it a small town, while also having some high-level talent and growth and opportunity for their kids and grandkids, and for generations to come.”
Kefauver said regardless of the membership plan chosen, members are invited to attend the annual Taste of the Town event on May 4. She said new members are also welcome to represent the organization by attending and volunteering at Fall Fun Fest in September.
“One thing that we’re able to do with that funding support from those members, is we’re able to provide grants to buildings,” Kefauver said. “Whether that be, you know, for new paint or lighting or a facade, or just help with any exterior beautification processes. And I think that they believe in that revitalization of the history in the downtown area.”
She said as a result of membership drives in previous years, the organization has been able to care for the “Cream City” sign downtown and put together Fall Fun Fest for the first time. She said all donations are tax-deductible. As an accredited Mainstreet Community, Cityscape can receive funding from the public and private sectors.
“It’s especially important in Cookeville, where we’re seeing so much growth, that we continue to grow, but at the same time, also being that avenue to keep that small-town feel that we all love and enjoy about Cookeville,” Kefauver said.
