City of Crossville May Host City Flag Contest

The City of Crossville may hold a student design contest for a new city flag.

City Manager Greg Woods said the idea for a contest came up during a recent council retreat.

“We did ask for a flag with a seal on it. [We] didn’t quite get what we asked for from one of the departments,” Woods said. “So one of the proposals was to do a competition to let the school kids come up with flags.”

Woods said the time has come to retire the current flag.

“Well, our problem is, the city flag there is not in too great of shape,” Woods said. “The company that made it is out of business, so [there is] one city flag flown.”

Woods said the contest would give the council options and get the community involved.

The Crossville City Council will address the contest during the next council meeting on March 12.
