Centerstone Opens on Spring Street in Cookeville

Non-profit behavioral health center Centerstone hosted an open house event at its new Cookeville location Thursday.

Centerstone COO Ben Middleton said the company looks to provide accessible mental and behavioral healthcare to the community.

“Those who suffer from mental illness or drug addiction, we want to make sure they have access to services,” Middleton said. “And that, quite frankly, what this location is about. We’ve been here in the community for a number of years providing community-based services [and] school-based services.”

The new clinic will be the first for Centerstone, which Middleston said had previously been providing in-home services.

“Now folks can actually drive to a clinic and receive medication if they need it [or] they can receive therapy if they need it,” Middleston said. “Whatever that is, we can provide that.”

Middleston said the company looks to bring quality services to more suburban and rural areas such as the Upper Cumberland.

“We want to make this more accessible to services that you could get in bigger cities and urban areas,” Middleton said. “We want our suburban and rural areas to have that same kind of access and not have to travel 60 or 70 miles to get access to it, so this is why this makes a difference.”

Centerstone is located at 606 East Spring Street adjacent to New Horizons Center for Women’s Health.
