Celina working with a potential land donor to create a small park in the downtown area.
Mayor Luke Collins said Mel Brown of Clay County recently moved away from the area and expressed interest in donating property.
“It would be called the Brown Family Park,” Collins said. “It’s not a real large area, but certainly large enough for a handicap bathroom there, which we certainly need around the square because we currently don’t have one and some seating areas.”
Collins said Celina needs to create a design for the project to present to Brown to consider. Collins said the parcel is located at the corner of East Lake Avenue and Highway 52.
Collins said the Brown family has a long history in Celina with multiple Director of Schools and musicians. Collins said even College Football Coach Mack Brown is from the same family.
