A new frisbee golf course and amenities for a safer version of dodge ball has been installed at Donaldson Park.
Celina Mayor Luke Collins said the city-funded project adds new activities just in time for the summer
“Something that we are very proud of, and it’s been a big hit,” Collins said. “A lot of people using it is the frisbee golf. Kids love it. Adults love it, and it can be moved around so we can change the course every month.”
Collins said the frisbee course includes nine holes with an additional back nine being considered. The new dodge ball game is a favorite among youth called Gaga Ball.
Players gather inside a wooden octagon pit and play with one ball. Instead of throwing at other players, you hit the ball with your hands towards the legs of others.
“Head towards the playground area and the start of the frisbee golf will be on the left and the Gaga Ball Pit will be on the right between the volleyball court and one of the playgrounds,” Collins said. “We’re proud that the community is using them.”
Collins said some other maintenance was performed recently. Collins said city employees have repainted trash cans, fences and plan on installing a new water bottle filling station.
