Celina K-8, Hermitage Springs Prep For Construction

Celina K-8 and Hermitage Springs School preparing for construction projects to begin.

Electrical and plumbing work is set to begin on November 15th. Director of Schools Diana Monroe said the largest undertaking in preparations was the Celina K-8 library.

“The library is basically totally moved and it looks awesome you’ve just got to go down there and see where the library was moved into the old RTI room,” Monroe said. “The big room. And it’s a big room once all the books were around the walls.”

Celina K-8 Principal David Maxfield said while teachers and students will have to adjust to new people in the building and construction noise, this is an exciting time. He said as the plumbing had not seen upgrades since the school was built in 1974, the project was long-needed.

Maxfield said they don’t have an estimated timeline for the work. He said that will depend on the ability to get all the needed materials.

“You know everything’s on back order right now so we’re at kind of the mercy of them,” Maxfield said. “But I think it’s going to be a great move for our school (…) It definitely is much needed.”

After the current electrical and plumbing projects are completed the school system estimates having some $365,000 left over in ESSER funding.
