Celina was awarded a 100 thousand dollar facade grant. This state grant helps store and business owners with outside repairs and updates.
Kevin Donaldson is the executive director of the Clay County Partnership Chamber of Commerce.
“We are excited about it. This is the third of these facade grants that we have gotten,” Donaldson said. “I’m pretty sure I am safe in saying we were one in only five cities across the state that received one of those.”
Various Celina storefronts will be under construction for the next couple months, Donaldson said. The updates will spread to storefronts throughout the city limits.
“In the past it has centered just on the downtown area, kind of just the square and a couple of our main streets in town,” Donaldson said. “But this basically includes the entire city limits. Now all the folks within the city limits will have a shot at this.”
The past grants awarded 15 thousand dollars and 25 thousand dollars.
“It has been a big help to our downtown area,” Donaldson said.
