Renovations to Cumberland County high School’s football stadium should wrap up by the end of this month.
Upland Design Group’s Kim Chamberlin said Thursday that crews have made lots of progress both inside and outside the stadium.
“The outside work on the front new entry, the retaining walls have been poured and sidewalks have been poured,” Chamberlin said. “Inside, lots of painting going. HVAC is working so they are getting really close at this point. On the outside they are working over on the stadium to get the railing, bleachers and new steps in place. They are probably about 90-percent complete with that.”
Chamberlin said the field’s new drainage system passed a big test during last week’s rain.
“I went over there Friday in the middle of the downpour and I’m glad to say no water on the field,” Chamberlin said. “We saw a little bit of water around the drains on the sideline where we expected to see it.”
Chamberlin said work on the new track is being slightly delayed because of the recent weather.
The stadium renovations are part of a larger $3 million project across the Cumberland High School campus. The total project includes the field replacement last summer as well as updates across the main building in addition to the stadium renovations.
