The State gave Cane Creek Elementary School and Northeast Elementary School an retake on their letter grade, increasing the annual score to a B.
The state recalculated elementary school letter grades after spotting a discrepancy between schools that take the second-grade TCAP and those that do not. Putnam County Schools Data and Testing Supervisor Jason Stickler said not all districts take the second-grade TCAP, but Putnam County does.
Stickler said the state was finding a difference in growth in third graders depending on whether or not they had taken the second-grade TCAP. He said the state recalculated and gave schools the best of two scores, bumping Cane Creek and Northeast up one letter.
Stickler said the improvement was cause for celebration.
The district should begin to receive information about next year’s round of grades in October or November, Stickler said.
