The Byrdstown Medical Center upgraded its technology to provide 15 minute COVID test results.
The center received the upgrades from its molecular test provider. Owner Dr. Andrew Todd said test results are now completed in-house.
“Pickett County fortunately has been a county with low COVID-19 numbers, and we want to keep it that way,” Todd said. “One of the ways that you keep transmission down is you test.”
Todd said the center is only the second rapid testing site in the Upper Cumberland. Each test costs $60, but insurance can help cover the cost.
“Being able to have testing in the same office visit means we can contact the local health department, let them know of an exposure and they can help us with the tracing,” Todd said. “We can let the patient know to contact anybody they came in touch with in the past 24 hours.”
No outside referral or physicians’ order is needed to be tested. You can call at (931) 864-3187 to request an evaluation and testing.
