Byrdstown has started a search to hire a water plant operator after the previous employee Annette Sells announced her retirement.
Sells has worked at the Water plant for several years. Byrdstown Mayor Sam Gibson said the position could be difficult to fill.
“Even though we have upped our salaries over the years we don’t have benefits like insurance,” Gibson said. “We do have some benefits other than insurance, so since we don’t have insurance we may want to look at upping the salary just a little bit.”
Gibson said the plant has recently lost some more experienced workers down at the plant. Gibson said an ideal candidate for the position would be someone who plans to stay long-term.
