The Jamestown Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the nomination of James Red Bowden to fill a vacant seat on the board Monday night.
Bowden will replace Vanessa Matthews who resigned in February. Though the council agenda reported no one had submitted a resume, Bowden had previously applied for a November, 2019 opening on the council.
“He contacted me and said he was still interested in the seat,” Mayor Lyndon Baines said.
Alderwoman Misty Harding asked about how long the vacancy had been advertised. The process began before the COVID-19 Stay At Home order.
The board voted 4-0 to approve Bowden’s nomination.
